From Breaking Bad to The Good Wife, Veep to Orphan Black, Sherlock to Parks and Recreation, Downton Abbey to Game of Thrones, House of Cards to Modern Family and everything in between, there really is excellent television for every taste imaginable these days. I've always been a devout film fan and never really had much interest in the small screen, but thanks to a Netflix subscription and recently discovering the box sets available on Sky I'm starting to seriously get into television. I devoured Breaking Bad like a meth addict last summer; made my way through two series of Orange is the New Black in a fortnight after my exams finished; desperately caught up on Scandal before the start of the new series on Sky Living a few weeks ago; rewatched all of Downton Abbey after Christmas as "dissertation research"; and fell head over heels for the fictional town of Pawnee in Parks and Recreation. I'm officially addicted.
Move over cinema, my lounge is now the place to be. What a time to be alive!
Last night marked the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, a coveted celebration of the best of television. Everything largely went to plan: Modern Family remained triumphant as Outstanding Comedy Series for the fifth year running, The Colbert Report took home Outstanding Variety Series once again, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) retained their titles as the critics' comedy favourites.

Veering off script Sarah Silverman showed the world the pot in her clutch live on E!, Amy Poehler was amazingly introduced as Beyonce at her insistence, and Bryan Cranston gave Julia Louis-Dreyfus a cheeky kiss in an homage to their Seinfeld days on her way to receive her award. Surprisingly, but excellently for the Brits, Sherlock swept up awards for both acting (Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman) and writing (Steven Moffat).

There were many highlights, but for me Breaking Bad's success really takes the crown. As yesterday was the last time the show could be nominated for Emmys I think the whole world was routing for Breaking Bad to go out with a bang. And it definitely did! Winning Outstanding Lead Actor/ Supporting Actor / Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series it firmly cemented its place as the stuff of television legend and more than received the recognition it deserves. What an insanely good show! Yeah bitch!

Now, on to the fashion… The red carpet this year was one of the best I've ever seen - potentially, dar I say it, better than last year - with so many incredible looks to admire! There was an overwhelming number of women wearing red, Zuhair Murad was a firm favourite designer with several stand out looks, and men seemed to favour navy suits over the traditional (and often boring) black. My Best Dressed of the evening goes to Taylor Schilling of Orange is the New Black fame, who looked simply stunning in a beaded nude Zuhair Murad Couture gown, completing her look with a white Rauwolf clutch, Stuart Weitzman shoes and incredible Forevermark jewellery.

Well, there you have it: that's my best dressed!
