People's Choice Awards 2015 Best Dressed

It's been quite a while since I've done a regular fashion post (epic 2014 Best Dressed list obviously not included!) so yesterday's People's Choice Awards seemed like the perfect opportunity to get back in the swing of things and gently dip my toes into red carpet waters once more.

As far as awards season goes these aren't exactly overly important, nor do they really provide any sort of hint as to possible future winners over the coming months. However, as they're voted for by the public it's pretty interesting to see what people other than critics and members of various academies have enjoyed over the past year, and who they deem deserving of taking home the accolades and being showered with praise. The categories are pretty extensive, so a full list of winners (and there are a LOT) can be found here.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jennifer Lawrence continued to reign supreme as the most popular actors, with the teen movie Divergent and Disney prequel Maleficent also taking home several awards apiece. Television winners ranged from old favourites such as the 11-season strong Grey's Anatomy to new ratings success stories like The Flash. On the music front, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran were big winners with multiple awards each. To be honest I'm not entirely sure what to make of it all - I don't agree personally with many of the winners - but it's always good to know what type of film, music and television this voting audience enjoys.

I think I've become horrendously out of touch as I didn't recognise half of the people at these awards, and as a result I've really only included people below that looked good - obviously - but also who I'd actually heard of. I might be in need a television education in order to work out where the rest of them are all from…

The red carpet unfortunately wasn't particularly exciting, but luckily there were still a number of stand-out sartorial successes.

BEST DRESSED: ELLEN POMPEO
Elie Saab jumpuit // Christian Louboutin heels

For me, Best Dressed had to go to Grey's Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo. Admittedly the trousers are a little too long for her, but I just adore the pale pink shade and beautiful lace detailing of this Elie Saab Resort 2015 jumpsuit. It's such an elegant yet strangely bold look, and when paired with simple, understated makeup Pompeo is both radiant and classy. Nicely played, Meredith.
